The first time I stepped on stage for a bodybuilding competition, it changed my life forever. It was one of the most frightening yet exhilarating moments to this day, without a doubt impacting me on so many levels. After that competition I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It was like the best drug ever that entered my body, and I'm not referring to performance enhancement substances. The feeling I got from being in the best shape of my life was like walking around with my own trophy twenty four hours a day. Almost forty years later I'm still living that dream.
This new feeling gave me confidence and a sense of well-being which I'd never experienced. It was a new outlook and new lease on life. The excitement of this is unexplainable in words. I was now filled with the courage, conviction and buzz in my belly to abruptly leave a job, which was a family owned business that provided my young family with stability and a steady paycheck. Instead I pursued a new career as a personal trainer, which forty years ago in my home town was nonexistent.
I remember being scared to death, but it didn't matter. My gut told me I had to do this or I would forever be filled with haunting regrets. Fear and passion we're definitely motivating factors, however looking back I realize a great life lesson was learned because of taking that leap of faith, which revealed how powerful and motivating fear and passion are.
I'm certain, if not for these powerful emotions, I wouldn't have made it. Here's the truth, when you do something that really matters, which fills you up with the kind of passion that coexists and has the ability to override fear, your life will never be the same, but in a great way. This kind of passion instantly provides you with the ability to change lives to the degree that you'll never fully understand. You'll soon realize that people feel this positive vibe when they're near you which is magical, believe me.
So let me leave you with this. If you're a personal trainer out there in personal training land who possesses this kind of passion wanting to share this energy with your clients, that's fantastic. If not, do yourself and your clients a favor and get out of the business, because you're not the real deal.
